Ionic Footbaths

An ionic footbath combines a warm foot soak with a gentle electrical process that interacts with the water and mineral array. We offer footbaths as a relaxing wellness practice—a quiet opportunity to rest, warm the feet, step away from daily stress, and support the body’s natural processes through hydration, nutrition, movement, rest, and other healthy patterns. While ionic footbaths are often promoted for detoxification, current research has not established that toxins are drawn from the body through the feet. However, many individuals report feeling relaxed, refreshed, or more balanced following a session, although individual experiences vary. Watch this brief video on the results of a footbath.

Practical safety considerations

Footbaths should generally be avoided or medically cleared when a person has open sores, active skin infection, impaired sensation, significant circulation problems, or an implanted electrical device. Pregnancy may also warrant clearance depending on the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

Extra caution is especially important with diabetes or neuropathy. Both the CDC and American Diabetes Association advise people with diabetes not to soak their feet because of concerns involving skin damage, infection, reduced sensation, and unnoticed burns.
